Later the “p” was pronounced with a stronger aspiration and also the name became the Pi Pi or Phi Phi still widely known today. The name refers to the mangrove wood found on the island.
A group of Phi Phi islands includes Koh Phi Phi Leh where there are many amazing bays & great coral reefs, white sandy beach, wonderful cliffs such as Maya Beach or Maya Bay. The movie “The Beach” was also filmed here, promoting this beach, making “Maya Bay” one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. Countless tourists return to this place time and time again, as if under a spell, in keeping with the word “Maya,” which in Thai means “magic” or “illusion.”
Phi Phi Don Island: At its north is Laem Tong Cape where there’s a Gypsy village. These Sea Gypsies were emigrating from Koh Lipe in Tarutao National Park, Satun Province that closes to the border of Malaysia. Diving and snorkeling at Laem Tong is superb. There is a long, relatively secluded, and quiet beach. Tonsai Bay and Loh Dalam Bay (often spelled Loh Dalum Beach) are two beautiful curving bays on the island. 07:45-08:00 am. Pick up from your hotel in Krabi (Aonang beach, Nopparat Thara beach area).
09:00 am. Get on a speedboat heading to Phi Phi Leh.
Sightsee the Viking Cave and “Pileh lagoon” where it is one of the most beautiful lagoons of Phi Phi Leh.
The lagoon looks like a big swimming pool surrounded by towering limestone cliffs.
Stop at “Loh Samah Bay” for snorkeling & swimming.
Visit Maya Bay where it is a stunning location, and its beauty was showcased in the 2000 Hollywood film “The Beach”
Visit Monkey Bay where you’ll encounter the wild macaques that inhabit the area
Have buffet lunch on Phi Phi Don Island & free time at leisure.
Our final stop will be to spend some time swimming, relaxing and sunbathing at Bamboo Island (also known as Koh Mai Phai).
16:30-17:00 Back to the pier and transfer back to your hotel in Krabi.
