Countless visitors return to the area, in keeping with the word “Maya,” which in Thai means “magic” or “illusion.”
Phi Phi Don Island is home to Laem Tong Cape, where there is a Gypsy village. These Sea Gypsies emigrated from Koh Lipe in Tarutao National Park, Satun Province, close to the Malaysian border. Diving and snorkeling around Laem Tong are superb, and the area has a long, relatively secluded and quiet beach. Tonsai Bay and Loh Dalam Bay (Loh Dalum Beach) are two beautiful curving bays on the island.
